Kotak Law to Purchase 1,000 Tickets and Donate $2,000 to Wounded Warriors

BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announced today at a press conference at the Powerade Centre that Kotak Personal Injury Law has once again stepped up in a big way to support the club's annual Military Appreciation Day.
For the second year in a row, Nainesh Kotak, Barrister and Solicitor with Kotak Personal Injury Law, has committed to purchase 1,000 tickets to the Beast's annual Military Appreciation Day game - being held on November 13th at 2:00 PM against the Wheeling Nailers - to distribute to active and veteran members of the military and their families, and cadets.
In addition, Kotak has once again made a sizeable $2,000 donation to Wounded Warriors Canada, a not-for-profit organization that supports Canada's ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, and their families. Kotak also pledged to donate an extra $100 for every goal the Beast score against the Nailers.
Because of Kotak's generous contributions, Sunday afternoon's game will once again be known as Kotak Law Military Appreciation Day.
Kotak sat alongside Beast President and General Manager Cary Kaplan and National Partnerships Director of Wounded Warriors Canada, David Macdonald at Wednesday's press conference told those in attendance that Canada has become a "beacon of strength, prosperity, hope and human rights," and that this success is owed to the sacrifices and hard work of many generations.
"And no one has sacrificed as much as the proud men and women of our Canadian military," said Kotak. "From the Fenian Raids, the War of 1812, the South African War, the Great War, World War II, the Korean War, peacekeeping, the protracted Cold War, the War in Somalia, the War in Afghanistan and now of course the War on Terror.
"Our soldiers have fought in these wars with bravery, with honour, with dignity."
Kotak explained that there have been tremendous costs for Canada in their journey to becoming a great country, and the battle to ensure this country will maintain its greatness for future generations. He detailed that in Afghanistan alone, 158 Canadian soldiers died, over 2,000 were physically wounded, and many more have been inflicted with severe psychological issues."
Kotak commended Wounded Warriors Canada for being a "beacon of light" for the men and women who have suffered in the war, and their families, since the organization was founded in 2006.
"We as Canadians are deeply indebted to Wounded Warriors Canada, because they provide comfort and aid to those who in our country who have sacrificed the most. This is why Wounded Warriors Canada is close to my heart, and why they will receive my unwavering support.
Kotak said he is continually inspired by the efforts of Macdonald, who was extensively injured during a tour of Afghanistan with the Canadian Army in 2009. Rehabilitation back to civilian life was extremely difficult for Macdonald, which led to his involvement with Wounded Warriors Canada. Kotak said he admires how MacDonald has persevered through this profound adversity to run two half-marathons and to dedicate his life to serving his country.
During his speech, MacDonald expressed his gratitude to Kotak Personal Injury Law for supporting Military Appreciation Day, and then went on to explain that he cannot think of a better sport to commemorate the military than hockey.
"When we went to fight the War in Afghanistan, we built hockey arenas wherever we went still played. There is nothing more Canadian than this: Playing hockey to remember those that have fallen and those that still live with injuries and impacts of the war."
Sunday afternoon's game will feature several special guests, including members of Sunnybrook Veterans, including World War II and Korean War veterans, members of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Military Family Resource Centre and representatives from Invictus Games Toronto 2017.
In addition to the aforementioned activities for Kotak Law Military Appreciation Day, the Beast will be wearing specialty military-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off following the game.
