Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets finished week 24 with a 40-25-4 record for 84 points after taking 3 wins and 6 points in week 24 of the 2005-06 campaign.

The Komets took 2 wins from Flint and a victory from Rockford. The only setback was a 3-2 loss at Motor City Saturday night. The 3 wins and 6 points place the Komets as 6th seed in the tight playoff race with 2 weeks and 7 Fort Wayne games remaining. Five points separate the Komets from 5th seed and Adirondack (9 games remaining). The Komets hold only a 1 point lead over 7th seed Motor City (5 games remaining) and 6 points separates the Komets from 8th seed Quad City (6 games remaining).

This week the Komets will skate 4 road games in 5 nights starting at Quad City Wednesday at 8pm. Friday the Komets play at Port Huron at 7:30pm before traveling to Flint for a 7:30pm faceoff Saturday. Sunday the Komets return to Quad City for a 2pm matinee.

All Komet games remaining are scheduled to air on Fort Wayne radio and at komets.com Comcast KometCast.

K's at Quad City Wednesday and Sunday.....the Komets will face the division rival Mallards twice this week at Quad City on Wednesday and Sunday. It will be the final 2 meetings of the season with the Komets holding a 5-4-0 series lead as both teams continue to battle for second place in the West. The Mallards are coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the visiting Muskegon Fury Sunday. Quad City is 4-1-1 in their last 6, 7-3-1 in their last 11. The Komets suffered a 5-2 defeat to the Mallards at Quad City in the last meeting March 11.

Port Huron hosts the Komets Friday.....the 7th and final meeting of the season takes place at Port Huron Friday. The Komets are 3-1-2 vs. the Flags in 6 previous meetings. Port Huron is winless in their last 6 games and are idle this week until the Komets visit Friday. The Komets dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Flags in the last meeting March 12.

Komets face the Generals in Flint Saturday.....after facing the Generals twice this past weekend the Komets will finish their season series against Flint at the Perani Arena and Event Center Saturday night. The Komets lead the series 4-2-0 after outscoring the Generals in the last 2 meetings 10-1. Flint is winless in their last 3 games and are 2-2-1 in the last 5. The Generals will battle at Kalamazoo Wednesday and host Muskegon Friday before facing the Komets Saturday.

Komets continue on the road next week.....the Komet's road trip continues into the final week of the season with a visit to Missouri Wednesday, April 12 (makeup of postponed Feb. 19 game), before returning home for a season-finale double-header against the two top teams in the UHL. Muskegon will visit Friday, April 14 and Kalamazoo comes to town for a 7:30pm faceoff Saturday, April 15.

Wednesday's game at Quad City will air on WKJG AM 1380 and games Friday at Port Huron, Saturday at Flint and Sunday at Quad City can be heard on WOWO AM 1190. Komet streaks.....Andrew Luciuk (C) is riding a 6-game point streak (4 goals, 3 assists).....the Komets have 4 straight wins at home.

Hitting the mark.....Andrew Luciuk (C) notched his 200th UHL career goal Wednesday 3/29/06 vs Rockford.....Josh Tataryn (LW) skated his 200th UHL career game Sunday 4/2/06 vs Flint.....Colin Chaulk has hit the 50 assist mark for the fourth straight season with the Komets and the fifth season of his career......Jonathan Goodwin (RW) hit the 30-goal plateau for his second straight season.

Pacing Puhalski.....Komet's head coach Greg Puhalski has coached 597 games to date since he started his UHL coaching career in Port Huron in 1998 (355-184-58, .643). Since then, Puhalski has racked up a record 355 UHL wins including 267 Komet wins in 449 Komet games.

Komet Ironmen.....Jonathan Goodwin (RW), Troy Neumeier (D) and Rob Guinn (D) have appeared in all 69 Komet games this season.

Chaulk up another franchise record.....Colin Chaulk set a new Fort Wayne team record of 32 Komet career power play goals March 24 at Missouri and Saturday April 1 set a new Fort Wayne team record of 790 career shots by a Komet player in the UHL. Sunday Chaulk added 3 shots for a career total of 793 shots to date. Previous shot record was held by Frederic Bouchard with 789.

Komets player of the week: Brent Rumble (LW), 4 gp, 4 g (pp, fw), 2 a, 6 pts, +2, 2 pim.

Komets goaltender of the week: Kevin St. Pierre, 3 gp, 2-1-0, 179:07, 5 ga, 1.67 gaa, 78/83, .940 spct., 1 shutout. Stopped all 22 Flint shots faced Friday, 3/31 to extend his UHL record to 21 shutouts and pad his Fort Wayne record to 18 career shutouts as a Komet. It was his 30th career shutout and 6th of the season (The 4-0 win was also his 5th straight win. His win streak was snapped Saturday at Motor City).

Komets player of March: Colin Chaulk (C), 14 gp, 6 g, 8 a, 14 pts, +7, 48 pim.

Komets goaltender of March: Kevin St. Pierre, 13 gp, 9-4-1, 744:53, 23 ga, 1.85 faa, 294/317, .927 spct., 3 shutouts. Komets rookie of March: David Carpentier (RW), 14 gp, 2 g, 3 a, 5 pts, +2, 31 pim.

Komets welcome forward Jamie Milam.....the Komets added rookie winger Jamie Milam to the roster this past week. Milam, 21, hails from Orion, Michigan, and is finishing a 4-year stint at Northern Michigan University (NCAA). Milam appeared in all 3 Komet games this past weekend scoring his first pro goal and point Saturday at Motor City. In 3 games, Milam has registered 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points and a +3.
