Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - On Saturday night, the Fort Wayne Komets picked up an eventual game-winning goal with just 2:06 remaining in regulation to top the Rapid City Rush in game #2 of the Turner Conference Semifinals. The best-of-7 series is now tied at 1-1 with the next three games taking place in Fort Wayne's War Memorial Coliseum.
This time, it was the Komets who drew first blood when Stephon Thorne's wrist shot from the left point was deflected in by Kaleigh Schrock for the only goal of the period.
It took only forty-nine seconds into the second frame for the Rush to even the score. Defenseman Dominic D'Amour sent a stretch pass to Jesse Schultz who capitalized on a breakaway with a deke to the forehand for his 3rd of the postseason.
The final period was closely contested until the 17:54 mark when Chris Auger's wrap around attempt was denied by Tim Boron, but Colin Chaulk was on the doorstep to swat the lofted puck in. Brett Smith added an empty net goal to secure the 3-1 win by the Komets.
