Fort Wayne, IN | Sunday, April 25, 2010 --- The Komets came up short Sunday in Fort Wayne falling 4-3 to Port Huron to give the Icehawks at 2-1 series lead in the best-of-seven IHL semifnals.
The Komets skated to a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Justin Hodgman and Guy Dupuis before the Icehawks came back to pull even in the second period on a pair by Jamie Lovell. Matt Syroczynski netted his third goal of the playoffs at 11:05 and the second frame ended with Fort Wayne on top 3-2.
Port Huron took advantage of Komet penalties in the third netting two power play tallies by Matt Auffrey at 3:10 and Brandon Naurato at 14:37 for a 4-3 lead and the Komets never recovered.
Komet goalie Tim Haun suffered his first loss of the playoffs on 24 saves while Larry Sterling registered the Port Huron win stopping 33 of 36 Komet shots.
The Komets and Icehawks will faceoff at McMorran Place in Port Huron Wednesday at 7pm in game 4 and the series returns to Fort Wayne for game 5 next Friday night at 8pm. -gamesheet-
