Komet Nick Boucher Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Central Hockey League announced Tuesday that Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher has been named the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Jan. 9, 2011.

Boucher, 30, allowed two goals in two games for a 1.01 goals-against average and stopped 61 of 63 shots for a .968 save percentage. The Leduc, Alberta native completed the week unbeaten in regulation seven straight decisions (4-0-3).

Boucher posted a 1-0-1 record for the week appearing in back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday. Saturday the netminder earned his eighth win of the season 2-1 at Dayton stopping 40 shots. Sunday Boucher held the visiting Quad City Mallards scoreless during regulation making 21 saves in a 1-0 overtime loss to remain unbeaten in regulation at home seven consecutive games.

Boucher enters week 14 of 2010-11 with a 3.12 goals-against average and .905 save percentage after 21 games. In his last eight appearances (4-0-3), Boucher has stopped 201 of 216 shots for a .931 save percentage.

Boucher, drafted by PIttsburgh in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, is in his eighth pro season and fourth straight year with the Komets after collecting three straight Turner Cup Championships with Fort Wayne the past three seasons.

The Komets will skate three games in three nights this weekend beginning Friday when the Evansville IceMen return for an 8pm E.T. faceoff. Saturday the Komets skate at Bloomington at 8:05pm E.T. and Sunday the Komets are home to host the Mississippi RiverKings at 5pm E.T.
