
Knights Win Home Opener

FORT MILL, S.C. - April 11, 2008- The Knights kicked off their 2008 home schedule with a 4-1 win over the Columbus Clippers at Knights Stadium in front of 7,929 fans. With the win, the Knights improved their record to 5-3.
With the game tied at 1-1, 3B Josh Fields smacked his first homerun in the sixth inning, giving Charlotte a 2-1 lead that they would never relinquish. Fields was 4-4 on the night with a double and two RBI's.
Starting pitcher Lance Broadway (2-0, 0.64) pitched for seven strong innings for the Knights, giving up five hits with four strikeouts. Broadway is now 2-0 on the season with an ERA of 0.64. Reliever Ehren Wassermann (S4, 0.00) picked up his fourth save of the season.
Tyler Clippard (0-2, 5.40) took the loss for the Clippers.
The Knights continue their first homestand of the season Saturday night against Columbus. Wes Whisler (1-0, 3.00) will take the mound for the Knights. The Clippers will start Jason Stanford (1-1, 16.62), game time is 7:15.
