
Knights Win \'Wild' Game

FORT MILL, S.C. - June 24, 2008 - Norfolk probably can't wait till their series with Charlotte ends. For the 8th time in a row, the Knights beat the Tides 6-5, with an unusual ending. With the game tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th and runners on 1st and 3rd. Tides pitcher Greg Aquino threw a wild pitch-with Knights batter Paul Phillips striking out-scoring Javier Castillo and giving Charlotte the win.
Knights OF David Cook gave Charlotte an early 1-0 lead with an RBI double to left field. With the game tied at 1-1, Cook again came through with an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd making it 2-1. The teams traded two runs each in the fourth, giving Charlotte a 4-3 lead until the Tides took the lead with a pair of RBI singles in the 8th and 9th taking a 5-4 lead until the Knights rallied later in the inning.
Scott Saurbeck (1-1, 4.30) picked up the win for the Knights. Aquino (1-2, 2.74) took the loss for the Tides. The series continues on Wednesday with Wes Whisler (8-4, 3.10) will start for the Knights. While Andy Mitchell (6-4, 4.91) will start for Norfolk.
