
Cummings dominant in Bulls win

DURHAM, NC-Jeremy Cummings gave the Bulls a spectacular start Tuesday at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, pitching to just three batters over the minimum as Durham beat the IronPigs, 4-1.
Cummings (6-2, 2.91) went seven strong innings, striking out five, allowing five hits and giving up Lehigh Valley's only run on Andy Tracy's home run in the seventh. Juan Salas pitched a one-hit eighth and Scott Dohmann struck out the side in the ninth for his seventh save of the year. Meanwhile, Fernando Perez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored to lead the offense.
Travis Blackley (3-4, 4.66) also had a quality start, allowing six hits, four runs-only three of them earned-and three walks while striking out four in a losing effort. Leadoff hitter Travis Blackley also had a perfect night for the IronPigs, hitting four singles in four trips to the plate.
The Bulls and IronPigs play the third game out of four Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Ben Hendrickson (6-4, 3.76) will start for Durham while Lehigh Valley will send their third-straight left-hander to the mound, Les Warlond (1-7, 4.13).
