Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - August 17, 2007 - It was a night of big innings, but the Louisville Bats were the last team to put one together as they were 12-9 winners over the Charlotte Knights. The game was filled with plenty of offense as the two teams combined for 21 runs and 32 hits.
The Knights pitchers have carried the team throughout most of the season, but have struggled of late. The Knights have allowed 29 runs over the last three games. Reliever Vladimir Nunez was saddled with the loss after allowing a go ahead home run to Louisville left fielder Joey Votto in the 8th inning.
The Knights did continue to get two great performances from their two hottest hitters.
First baseman Casey Rogowski continued to swing a hot bat as he hit his fourth home run in the last three days with a solo shot that went well past the right field wall in the 4th inning. Rogowski finished the night going 3 for 4 with three runs scored
The Knights are also starting to become accustomed to a solid offensive night from designated hitter Kenny Perez. Perez went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBI's. Perez extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
The Knights will start a two game series tomorrow against the Indianapolis Indians at 7:15 p.m. RHP Charlie Haeger (5-13, 4.67 ERA) will start for the Knights, the Indians will counter with LHP Michael Tejera (7-3,4.08 ERA).
