Knights Pickup Four Players Including Experienced Quarterback

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Knights announced today the team has added four more players to their roster including veteran-quarterback Caleb Slover. The Knights also picked up Wes Virgilio, an experienced kicker, and rookies Carlos Daniels and Jason Lemay.

Caleb Slover (6-2, 225, Tusculum) enters his third season in areanfootball2. During the 2003 season, the quarterback played 16 games with the Greensboro Prowlers completing 244-of-409 passes for 3,474 yards and 75 touchdowns. Slover threw only 11 interceptions and was sacked just one time. In 2002, Slover appeared in 14 games with the Carolina Rhinos where he completed 187-of-399 passes for 2,292 yards and 43 scores.

While at Tusculum College for two seasons, Slover re-wrote the Pioneers' record book. He holds the career-passing record at TC with 4,973 yards. He also holds school career records in pass attempts (781), completions (451), passing percentage (.577), passing touchdowns (34), passing yards per game (236.8), offensive attempts (930) and total offensive yards (5,135). He also holds two single-game records and seven single-season records.

Prior to attending TC, Slover played two seasons at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga. While at GMC, Slover passed for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Wes Virgilio (6-0, 192, Victor Valley J.C.) enters his fourth season in arenafootball2. In 2003, he appeared in three games with the Memphis Xplorers. During 2002, Virgilio played 10 games with the Greensboro Prowlers and in 2001, he played in two games with the Florida Firecats. In his career, he has converted 39-of-68 PATs and has made four field goals.

Carlos Daniels (6-2, 265, Western Illinois) enters his first season in arenafootball2. After leading Western Illinois in rushing in 2001, Daniels signed a free-agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2002. Daniels rushed for 667 yards three touchdowns on 148 carries. He also caught 10 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Before attending Western Illinois, Daniels played at the University of Wisconsin.

Jason Lemay (6-5, 260, Appalachian State) enters his first season in arenafootball2. Lemay finished his collegiate career at Appalachian State after beginning it at Clemson. During his final season, in 2001, Lemay appeared in 11 games making eight receptions for 82 yards and three touchdowns as a tight end for the Mountaineers.

The Macon Knights – 2003 American Conference Champions – will kick off the season with a rematch of the 2003 ArenaCup as they play host to the Tulsa Talons on April 10th at 7:30 pm.
