June 12, 2016 - West Coast League (WCL)
Corvallis Knights News Release
WENATCHEE, Wash. - The Corvallis Knights concluded their season-opening nine-game road trip on Sunday with a 3-0 loss at Wenatchee.
First baseman Roman Garcia (San Diego) had three hits for the Knights, who dropped the final two games of the series with the AppleSox (2-7 WCL) after winning the opener.
Catcher Zak Taylor (Oregon State) had the Knights' lone extra-base hit, a double. Corvallis had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth, but two strikeouts ended the game. Corvallis left eight runners on base while being shut out for the third time this season.
Starter Aaron Pope (Dixie State) was the tough-luck loser. He allowed one run on two hits and had six strikeouts in his second quality effort. He has allowed one earned run in 10 innings for a 0.90 ERA, but is 0-2 as the Knights have been blanked in each of his starts.
The Knights open the home portion of the WCL schedule at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday against Kelowna, the 2015 WCL runner-up.
