PITTSTON, Penn. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights fell to the Jamestown Rebels in overtime, 3-2, in a matinee matchup on Saturday, November 23, at Revolution Ice Centre.
The Knights' record in regular season play is now 11-10-2-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).
"We had our changes to score and didn't capitalize," said Head Coach Tom Kowal.
The first period proved to be a scoreless one, despite 10 shots from the Knights and four from the Rebels.
The Knights were the first to score in the middle frame as Zak Currie sent the puck past Rebels netminder Noah West at 1:46 of the period. Lincoln Hatten and Artur Turansky were credited with assists on the goal.
At 7:36 of the second period, the Rebels scored to knot the game at one goal apiece heading into the third period of play.
The Knights out shot the Rebels 12-4 in the second period.
With 9:56 remaining in the third period, the Rebels scored and took their first lead of the game.
However, Egor Postnov scored a shorthanded goal with just 1:17 remaining in regulation to tie up the score at two goals apiece, with an assist from Nikita Asylaev.
The Rebels ultimately took the game in overtime, 3-2.
Zach Stejskal played a full game in net and recorded 18 saves against the Rebels.
"We did enough for one point, but not good enough to earn a four-point weekend," said Kowal.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday, November 26, to take on a two-game road series against the Maine Nordiques.
