Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - The game was close, but the result was the same for the Charlotte Knights. A day after losing by 15 runs to the Durham Bulls, the Knights came up just short in a 5-3 loss to the Bulls at Knights Stadium.
Durham's two 7th inning home runs were the difference in the game. With it all tied at 3-3, Durham hit back to back home runs from Stephen Vogt and Dan Johnson to put the Bulls ahead by two. Both homers were hit off Knights reliever Gregory Infante who falls to 0-4 on the season after taking the loss.
Knights starting pitcher Matt Zaleski did pitch well through 6.0 innings allowing just three runs off six hits. Zaleski's catcher, Josh Phegley, did the best he could to provide him with some run support. Phegley hit his second home run in the last three games to tie the game in the 6th inning.
The Bulls Rob Delaney earned his third save of the season by pitching a scoreless 9th inning and Cesar Ramos was credited with the win.
The Knights begin a two game series with Gwinnett Braves tomorrow at Knights Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM. LHP Doug Davis will start for Charlotte and LHP Yohan Flande will start for the Braves.
