Durham Bulls News Release
(Fort Mill, SC) Stephen Vogt's first Triple-A homer broke a 3-3 tie in the seventh and Dan Johnson followed with a long ball as Durham went on to win 5-3 at Charlotte on Wednesday night. Durham (62-47) now has won three straight, and has a game and a half lead over idle Gwinnett in the South Division.
Vogt, who was second in the Double-A Southern League in RBI before his call-up to Triple-A, homered to right off Gregory Infante (0-4) with two out in the seventh. Johnson then followed with his seventh homer (and third in his last three road games) for the two-run cushion. Vogt now is 8-for-17 in his first four Triple-A games with four extra-base hits.
Durham's bullpen made the lead stand up. Cesar Ramos (2-0), Dane De La Rosa and Rob Delaney (three saves) didn't allow a runner beyond first base over the final three innings.
Vogt and Mayora highlighted a 10-hit attack with a pair of hits apiece.
Durham opens an eight-game home stand on Thursday against Phillies affiliate Lehigh Valley. Andy Sonnanstine squares off against Brian Bass. Tickets are available on 620 the Buzz.
