Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights' organization are proud to announce the Knights will have a Tier III hockey team playing in the NA3HL next season.
The franchise was approved by the USA Hockey Junior Council Wednesday, April 17th, 2019. The announcement comes as part of a six team expansion to the NA3HL, bringing the North American 3 Hockey League to 36 teams for the upcoming 2019-2020 season.
Per NA3HL.com: "We have established a great track record of success to move players onto the next levels of hockey and adding an NA3HL team as a part of that Ladder of Development was important for our organization," said Knights head coach Tom Kowal. "Everyone develops at a different pace, so having an NA3HL team as a part of the NAHL team is important because we will be monitoring their progress, tracking their development, and utilizing players throughout the season."
The Knights previously spent two seasons as a Tier III team in the Eastern Hockey League. The transition to the NA3HL begins immediately, with the entry draft set to begin Thursday, April 18th.
