FORT MILL, S.C. - After losing the first two games of the series the Charlotte Knights used timely hitting and strong pitching to defeat the Louisville Bats 2-1 at Knights Stadium. The game was a pitcher's duel throughout with the two teams combining for just eight hits.

Louisville's Ben Jukich had a strong performance striking out eight Knights hitters over 5.0 innings and allowing just one unearned run. The Bats got on the board first to give Jukich some run support as Yonder Alonso led off the 4th inning with a double and later scored on a Juan Francisco base hit.

The Knights answered back in the bottom of the inning when Tyler Flowers reached base on a walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Flowers then attempted to steal third base, and was about to be caught in a rundown. Jukich ended up throwing the ball over the third baseman's head which allowed Flowers to reach third safely.

Play was halted for 40 minutes due to rain but resumed in the bottom of the 5th. The Knights scored the winning run in the 7th inning when Alejandro De Aza doubled home Rob Hudson to put Charlotte ahead 2-1.

The Knights and Bats play the series finale tomorrow at 7:15 PM. RHP Matt Zaleski (6-6, 3.63 ERA) will pitch for the Knights, the Bats will start RHP Chad Reineke (6-7, 3.13 ERA).
