FORT MILL, S.C. - August 26, 2009 - In the longest game of the season, the Charlotte Knights took an 10-7 win in an 11-inning battle against the Gwinnett Braves with a walk-off homerun from Tyler Flowers.
The Knights got things started with two runs in the bottom of the 4th with a two-run home run from OF Michael Restovich. The Braves took the lead in the top of the 6th, scoring six runs-two on sacrifice flies. Charlotte managed to come back to tie things up 6-6 after a bases loaded walk and Flowers RBI single to center.
With the game tied at 7-7, Knights catcher Tyler Flowers closed out the game with a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 11th inning, giving Charlotte the win at 10-7.
Jon Link (1-2, 4.30) picked up the win and allowed no runs or hits, and struck out one Gwinnett batter in one inning of work. Juan Perez (2-4, 3.55) took the loss for the Braves.
The Knights continue their series with the Braves Thursday. Lucas Harrell (4-1, 3.17) will get the start for Charlotte. Jo Jo Reyes (3-1, 2.68) will start for Gwinnett. Game time is 7:15 PM. Gates open at 6 PM.
