Chambliss Moves to the Broadcast Booth for Triple-A Championship Game

FORT MILL, S.C. - August 26, 2009 - He's no stranger to championships both on and off the field and now he work a championship game from the broadcast booth. Charlotte Knights manager Chris Chambliss will be a part of the broadcast team for the Triple-A National Championship game on ESPN2. The Triple-A Championship game will be broadcast live on Tuesday, September 22 at 7 p.m., live from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The game features baseball's highest minor league level, Triple-A, as the Pacific Coast League (PCL) champion will square off against the International League (IL) champion. Launch in 1993, ESPN2 is now available in approximately 97 million homes.

Chambliss is completing his first season as manager of the Knights. He enjoyed a 17-year Major League career with the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves. Chambliss was the first pick in the 1970 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft and was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1971. He is perhaps best known for his walk-off home run in the 1976 ALCS game vs. Kansas City to send the Yankees to the World Series. In addition to playing on two World Series championships teams as a player, Chambliss was the Yankees hitting coach from 1996-2000 when New York won four World Series titles.
