Knighthawks To Hold Blood Drive

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks announced today that they will be teaming up with The Rochester Americans and The American Red Cross to hold a very important blood drive on Saturday, March 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. This blood drive is part of the Amerks and Knighthawks Health & Wellness Weekend. The Knighthawks will be in action that night as they play host to the Chicago Shamrox. Faceoff is set for 7:35 p.m.

Due to recent weather conditions, the blood supply in Rochester has dropped, making blood donations very necessary. Donations from this blood drive will ensure that local hospitals have the blood required for their patients in need.

All blood donors at the event will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a Rochester Americans or Rochester Knighthawks game. Each donor will be entered into a special drawing to win free Amerks memorabilia and an autographed Knighthawks jersey.

All donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental permission and must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. Donors can call 1-800-Give Life to schedule a blood donation appointment. For more information, please contact the Knighthawks Office at (585) 454-5335.

The Knighthawks battle the Edmonton Rush on Saturday, March 15th at 6:00 p.m. at Rexall Place. The game will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.

Rochester (4-4) enters the contest in fifth place in the East Division after winning its last game, 18-8, over the Chicago Shamrox on March 1st. Knighthawks forward Shawn Evans was honored by the National Lacrosse League for his efforts. Evans was named the league's Offensive and Overall Player of the Week. Evans (4+7) recorded a career-high 11 points and tied his single-game best with four goals. He also scored the game-winning goal and collected seven loose balls. It marked the second time this season that Evans has garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors. John Grant (400th assist), Shawn Williams (300th Knighthawk assist), Scott Evans (150th assist) all reached milestones against the Rush.

The Knighthawks return home on Saturday, March 22nd to host Chicago the Shamrox at 7:35 p.m. The first 10,000 fans will receive a Knighthawks team photo courtesy of Connors and Ferris. That night, the Knighthawks will host their Second Annual Teddy Bear Auction. Fans can bid on 31 bears created at Build-A-Bear Workshop® at Eastview Mall. Last year the event raised nearly $4,500 for CURE. The game will be broadcast live on WYSL 1040-AM, wysl1040.com and B2 Networks. The contest will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. Immediately following the game, fans are invited to the turf for the official post-game Meet and Greet.
