(Rochester, March 21)... Monkeys, Penguins and Bears, Oh my! GoBuyRochester.com will host the auction, which will start March 24th and run through April 2nd.
Knighthawks players designed, named, and autographed their bear or animal, complete with accessories. There is also a team bear, sporting a lacrosse uniform autographed by the entire Knighthawks team. Information on the auctions is accessible at http://gobuyrochester.com/knighthawks .
The Teddy Bear auction will begin 6:15 p.m. prior to the Knighthawks' National Lacrosse League game against the Toronto Rock. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Fans at the game will be able to place their bids at the Go Buy Rochester booth or online at http://gobuyrochester.com. The auction will continue through the following week and end at midnight on April 2nd.
"This is the second auction we've hosted for the Knighthawks this year," said David Madison of GoBuyRochester.com. "The first auction, featuring Knighthawks jerseys, raised thousands for the fight against prostate cancer. We are so proud to be partnering with the Knighthawks again, as together we support the great work of CURE Childhood Cancer Association through this teddy bear auction."
"Every year, our players kick off the season by building bears to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer Association," said Knighthawks President, Lewis Staats. "It has become a Knighthawks' tradition as we contribute to CURE's mission of fighting childhood cancer in Rochester."
Founded in 1976, CURE is focused on meeting the emotional, social, financial, and educational needs of families with children who have been diagnosed with cancer and chronic blood disorders. Brian Wirth, the Executive Director of CURE, said, "We appreciate the long and successful relationship we have had with the Knighthawks. Their organization's commitment to supporting CURE and our programs is unwavering."
"Supporting our community is what Go Buy Rochester is all about," added Madison. "Partnering with the Knighthawks to raise funds for a hometown charity like CURE is a natural extension of our 'shop here first' message. We need to do everything we can to continue to reinvest in and grow the Greater Rochester economy, and that starts with taking care of our neighbors."
