September 16, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Rochester Knighthawks News Release
The back-to-back National Lacrosse League Champion Rochester Knighthawks will have four selections in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft, which will take place tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for fans while the Draft will also be broadcast live on YouTube via The Lacrosse Network.
Rochester will make its first selection in the third round, 27th overall. The Knighthawks also own the 37th, 46th and 55th picks in the six-round draft. The Minnesota Swarm currently hold the first overall selection. Last year, Rochester's draft class included Matt Hummel and Cody McLeod. It was an unforgettable moment for both players, especially Hummel.
"It was my childhood dream to be selected to play in the NLL, but I never guessed I would have been picked by the NLL Champion Rochester Knighthawks," he said after the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. "Growing up I watched many NLL games and Rochester was always an elite team, so to have the opportunity to step on the floor with top caliber players is an opportunity of a lifetime. The only NLL jersey I have ever had is a Rochester Knighthawks jersey."
Some of the top draft picks in team history have included Cody Jamieson, Sid Smith, Johnny Powless, Stephen Keogh, John Grant Jr., Casey Powell, Cory Vitarelli, Scott Evans, Shawn Evans, Curt Malawsky, Pat Cougevan and Jeremy Hollenbeck.
Head Coach Mike Hasen, who had a Hall of Fame career with the Knighthawks, had a message for the next crop of youngsters that join the team tonight.
"For the younger guys, you are going to learn from the vets around you," he said. "Make sure to enjoy it. Don't get too worried about if you are in the lineup or not. Just get out there and put your hard hat on and work as hard as you can every time you stop onto the floor. Your opportunity will come."

Jamieson, who was the No.1 overall pick in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft, sent words of encouragement to future NLLers today through his Twitter account.
"Good luck to all the NLL draftees tonight. Enjoy the moment because time really flies by," he wrote on @Cjamieson88.
The Knighthawks will kick off their historic 20th season on Saturday, December 28th, as they host the Minnesota Swarm at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena.
