Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks (0-3) entered the Shark Tank on Saturday seeking revenge against the undefeated Vegas Knight Hawks.
The Sharks and Knight Hawks came ready for a rumble with a high scoring first quarter. The Knight Hawks put six points on the board in the first three minutes. The Sharks answered back minutes later with a touchdown by WR Kamrin Solomon . Sharks QB Fred Payton managed to squeeze in one more touchdown seconds before the conclusion of the first. The Sharks headed into the second quarter with a lead of 14-13.
In the second quarter, the Knight Hawks once again were the first to score. Sharks RB Boom Williams made a great diving grab to move the ball down the field. Frankie Onate kicked a 30-yard field goal that built momentum for the team in the second quarter. RB Tyler King hurdled the Hawks defensive line players in his effort to reach the endzone. WR Marquis McClain scored a touchdown that nearly resulted in an interception for the Hawks, that required a referee review. During the course of the second quarter the penalties were piling up on the Sharks with un-sportsmen like conduct for player Jeremiah Payton and Head Coach Jason Gibson. With only four seconds left in the second quarter, Jacksonville DB Jabari Gorman and Vegas WR Justin Collins were both disqualified for the remainder of the game. The Sharks finished the second quarter behind 34-21.
In the start of the second half, Solomon secured a touchdown for the Sharks to begin chipping away at the Hawks's lead. DB Sir Zion Dance replaced Gorman following his ejection from the Saturday's game. Payton managed to secure another touchdown for the Sharks. Following Payton's tenacious touchdown, Solomon ran the ball for a successful two-point conversion. The third quater ended with Vegas in the lead 47-35.
In the fourth, Payton threw an interception on a pass intended for Solomon. The Sharks did not score following the conclusion of the third quarter. The final in Jacksonville was 61-35 Knight Hawks.
The Sharks head back on the road as they face the Arizona Rattlers on Sunday, April 28th in Glendale. Kick off is at 6:05 PM.
