BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Grand Rapids Gold (16-12) fell to the Westchester Knicks (14-13) after a physical, shot-for-shot contest that resulted in 14 lead changes and 13 ties. The Gold held fast to the Knicks, ending the first half 64-63 over Westchester, but the Gold's turnover woes worked in favor of the home team. Grand Rapid had 26 turnovers which converted to 32 points for Westchester. Additionally, the Knicks had an efficient second half, outscoring the Gold 27-15 in the third and 23-15 in to close the fourth.
Dewan Hernandez earned a team-high 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Miles McBride followed up with 20 points, 18 assists, 3 rebounds and 4 steals. Feron Hunt recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds. Other Knicks in double digits were Louis King (16 pts, 6 rebs, 4 assists) ad Tyler Hall (13 pts, 3 rebs, 2 stls).
Kelan Martin earned a game-high 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Petr Cornelie added another 15 points, 21 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Other Gold players in double digits were Giorgi Bezhanishvili (12 pts, 3 rebs), Quade Green (11 pts, 5 rebs, 4 assists), Marcus Burk (11 pts) and Trevon Duval (10 pts, 6 assists, 2 rebs).
The Gold will travel to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to compete against the Wisconsin Herd on Sunday, March 27 at the Oshkosh Arena. Tip-off is at 3:30 p.m. EST. Watch live on NBATV.
