Sacramento River Cats News Release

Round Rock, Texas - First baseman Andrew Knapp put his name in the record books on Saturday as the Sacramento River Cats (42-57) fell 9-4 to the Round Rock Express (54-45) in Sunday's series finale.

Knapp's eighth-inning three-run homer was his fourth in as many games, tying the PCL high this season, and also the franchise record set by outfielder Mac Williamson in April of 2018.

The switch-hitter, who joined the team at the beginning of the road trip, is 11-for-27 (.407) with seven runs, two doubles, 11 RBIs, and a 1.374 OPS in seven games for Sacramento.

Round Rock stormed out to a 7-0 lead with a run in the first, four in the second, one in the third, and one in the fifth to take a commanding seven-run lead.

Center fielder Bryce Johnson got Sacramento on the board in the sixth when he tripled and scored on catcher Jhonny Pereda's sacrifice fly.

Righty Sean Hjelle (4-5) was burned for six runs, but only two were earned, on seven hits and three walks in 4.0 innings. Right-handed relievers Shelby Miller and Patrick Ruotolo struck out one each in scoreless innings of relief.

Knapp, a Roseville, California native, and the River Cats will return home after the nine-game road trip to take on the Tacoma Rainiers.

Righty Tristan Beck (4-6, 6.27) will kick off the series against lefty Justus Sheffield (3-5, 6.85) at 6:35 p.m. (PT) on Tuesday. Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

Third baseman Shane Matheny, who singled in his Triple-A debut one day prior, went 1-for-4 with a single on Sunday.

Rehabbing San Francisco catcher Curt Casali went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in his third rehab game.
