
Knapp Dominates, Mets Take Opener from Tortugas

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Ricky Knapp cruised for eight innings, Jhoan Urena drove in four runs and the St. Lucie Mets beat the Daytona Tortugas 6-1 on Wednesday at Tradition Field.
Knapp pitched his 11th quality start in 14 starts for St. Lucie. He limited the Tortugas to six singles and allowed the only run to come on a ground out. Knapp didn't walk a batter and struck out two.
At one point Knapp retired 14 straight batters between the second and sixth innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.01, which is the lowest among active FSL starting pitchers.
Tomas Nido erased a 1-0 deficit with a two-run homer off of Keury Mella in the fourth.
Urena blasted a two-run shot vs. Mella in the fifth to give the Mets a 4-1 lead.
The Mets loaded the bases with two outs in the eighth and Urena came through again with a two-run single to make it 6-1.
Nido went 3 for 4 and finished a triple shy of the cycle. Urena was 2 for 4 with four RBI.
John Mora and Partick Biondi added two hits apiece.
Kevin Kaczmarski went 1 for 4 in his FSL debut after being promoted from Columbia earlier in the day.
The win snapped the Mets' three-game losing streak.
Next Up: The Mets (45-41, 10-9) host the Tortugas (47-39, 11-6) again on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
