Chicago Storm News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - The Chicago Storm must forge ahead without one of their key defensemen. Second-year defender Will Kletzien is out for the remainder of the 2007-08 season with a torn ACL, the team announced Wednesday. The injury occurred during the first half of last Friday's 14-8 home victory against the Philadelphia KiXX.

"We knew based on last season that he would be a big part of our success," Storm head coach Steve Morris said. "It's a shame to lose a player who really loves to play soccer. Up to the injury, Will has been very solid for us and was developing more and more confidence every day. He will be missed, and we look forward to getting Will back for the preseason next year."

Kletzien is tied for the team lead in games played (15) and tied for second on the Storm in blocks (16). He recently posted three blocks in a 12-4 loss at Detroit. Kletzien also has three assists this season.

During last season's rookie campaign, Kletzien played in seven regular-season games, tallying two assists and three blocks. He also played in two postseason matches. Kletzien, a native of Kent, Ohio, played college soccer at the University of Akron. The Zips made the NCAA tournament in all four seasons Kletzien played.

The Storm (10-5) host the first-place Detroit Ignition (11-4) this Friday. Game time is 7 p.m., and the Sears Centre Arena doors open at 6 p.m.

The Chicago Storm are members of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Storm offices are located at 5333 Prairie Stone Pkwy., in Hoffman Estates.
