Kitchener Hosts Erie in Hopes of Their Eighth Straight Win

Kitchener, On - The Rangers are currently on a seven-game win streak and are 10-1 on home ice heading into Tuesday night's match-up against Erie. Puck drop is set for 7 pm at The Aud for their second meeting this season.

This Season:

The Rangers hosted the Otters on October 27th in a tight contest in which Erie tied the game 4-4 with just over two minutes remaining to send the game to overtime. Only one minute and 26 seconds into overtime, Matthew Sop scored the game-winning goal.

Over the Years:

The divisional opponents have faced 30 times over the last five seasons. The Rangers own a 20-7-1-2 record against the Otters and when playing at The Aud the Rangers are 11-3-0-2. The 2017-18 season was the best campaign when the Rangers went undefeated against them.

Special Teams:

The Rangers continue to stay atop the league's special teams standings. Kitchener owns the league's third-best power play converting at 27.8%. Erie follows behind in fourth place converting at 26.7% while playing on the road the Otters rise to third at 29.5%. The Rangers own the fourth-best penalty kill at 85.4% and when playing at The Aud, Kitchener has the league's best pk at 93.3%. Erie is ranked 19th in penalty killing at 72.1% and when on the road Erie is 20th at 64.4%.

Game of Goals:

Over the Rangers' seven game win streak they have accumulated 38 goals for and given up 12 goals against. Carson Rehkopf (Seattle Kraken) has scored nine of those goals and assisted on five. Matthew Sop and Trent Swick have each scored five goals in this stint and Adrian Misaljevic has potted four.

Players to Watch:

Sop recorded his second OHL hat trick on Saturday night against Windsor to receive the game's first star. Sop has the league's third most points and fourth most assists with a 13-22-35 stat line. He has recorded 12 multi-point games so far this season. In the first match against the Otters, Sop scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

Rehkopf has his name on nearly every leaderboard as he currently leads the CHL in goals with 24 and is third in points with 39. Rehkopf heads into Tuesday's game on a three-game point streak after scoring two goals against Windsor on Saturday. In the last game against Erie, Rehkopf registered two goals.

Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver Canucks) leads the entire CHL in assists with 30 and is second in the OHL for points with 36. The last time the Rangers and Otters met Brzustewicz tallied three assists.

Jackson Parsons remains the top goaltender in the league leading four key goaltending categories; save percentage (.925), goals-against average (2.30), wins (11), and shutouts (4).

Last Time Out:

The Erie Otters last faced the London Knights on Saturday night coming out with a 4-2 victory at home. The Otters have recorded one win in their last three games. In those three games, they have allowed and scored nine goals.

Players to Watch:

Carey Terrance (Anaheim Ducks) is the top point-getter for the Otters with 25 points. Terrance has 15 goals which is good enough for fifth in the league. He opened the scoring against London on Saturday and finished the game with the game-winner for a two-goal night.

Leading the Otters' blueline is Spencer Sova who has 13 points (7G, 6A). Sova recorded an assist against London in Saturday's game.

Martin Misiak (Chicago Blackhawks) is third on the Otters in points with 19 (9G, 10A). In the last meet between the Rangers and Otters, he tied the game with 17 seconds left to send it to overtime. He finished the game with a goal and an assist.
