Kinston Indians News Release
Tribe Talk....
Kinston Wins Another Series - Kinston looked dead in the water, staring at a 3-0 deficit in Myrtle Beach Friday night. The K-Tribe never faltered though, getting two doubles from Adam Abraham and a go-ahead home run from Anthony Gallas. Gallas' homer was the first for him since joining the Indians on June 13th.
Indefatigable - Since resuming play after the all star break, Kinston has needed the ninth inning or extras in six of nine games. The Indians took the first two games in Salem with ninth inning go-ahead runs and split two extra inning games against Potomac in Kinston. Wednesday's 10th inning affair with Myrtle Beach marked Kinston's 3rd straight extra inning contest, a feat no Kinston team has accomplished since digital records began in 2004.
League's Best - Kinston finished June with the league's best record at 18-9. The K-Tribe launched 18 HR (4th) and had the best era mark at 2.54. June's top mark came on the heels of May's 18-10 record, which was second best in the league, one game back of Frederick's 19-11.
On A Roll - Since the K-Tribe lost back-to back games May 15th and 16th, the team has reeled off 31 wins and 11 losses. That stretch has also included wins in 12 of 13 series. Kinston is one game shy of the league's best record - Frederick sits one game better than the K-Tribe at 46-32.
XM Future's Game - Drew Pomeranz has been named to the XM Future's game roster. The annual talent showcase features the top prospects from around minor league baseball as part of MLB's All Star Weekend. The 2011 contest will be on July 10th at Arizona's Chase Field.
Good Company - Last season, a record 38 big league all stars were futures game alumni. Former K-Tribers who have recently participated include Lonnie Chisenhall (2010), Chun-Hsiu Chen (2010), Carlos Santana (2009), Nick Weglarz (2009), Wes Hodges (2008), Chuck Lofgren (2007), Max Ramirez (2007), Sean Smith (2006), Ryan Garko (2005), Fausto Carmona (2004, 05), Michael Aubrey (2004), Grady Sizemore (2003), C.C. Sabathia (2000)
