July 2, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

For the second time this week, RHP Oliver Drake kept an opposing team scoreless. On Saturday night, Drake tossed 8 1/3 scoreless against the Kinston Indians as the Keys won the opener of the three-game set, 3-0. In his last start on June 27th, Drake tossed a complete shutout against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Over the week, the Gardner, Mass native allowed just six hits over 17 1/3 scoreless frames.

Due to Drake's dominance on Saturday night, the Keys offense did not need to produce that many runs. In the third inning, 3B Dale Mollenhauer and C Brian Ward led off the inning with walks against LHP T.J. House. After RF Steve Bumbry grounded into a fielder's choice, Frederick had men on the corners with one out. House forced 2B Jonathan Schoop to pop out to shallow right for the second out of the inning. SS Manny Machado stepped to the plate with two outs and the game scoreless. Machado did not need his bat in order for the first run of the game to come home. Bumbry was caught in no man's land but was able to get in a rundown which scored Mollenhauer from third.

Drake continued to deal as the night wore on in Kinston. The K-Tribe put runners on the bases in the second, third, and fifth inning but hit into inning ending double plays in all three of those innings. CF Tyler Holt hit a two-out triple to right field in the sixth inning but was left of the base paths after SS Casey Frawley flew out to right field to end the inning.

Frederick

added insurance runs for Drake in the fourth and sixth innings.

After giving up one-out single to Tyler Holt, Orlando Gomez called on his closer, Sean Gleason. Gleason got SS Casey Frawley to ground out to third and then he struck out LF Anthony Gallas to end the game.

Gleason notched his 22nd save of the season while Drake improved to 7-3 on the year. On the night, Drake struck out four, walked two, and scattered three hits over his 8 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Keys and K-Tribe will play two of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon. LHP Nathan Moreau (7-6, 3.42) will take the hill for the Keys while the Indians will turn to RHP Clayton Cook (6-4, 3.18). First pitch from Grainger Stadium is set for 1:35 p.m.
