
Kings Make Five Selections at Day Two of the 2012 NHL Draft

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, 2012 Stanley Cup Champion and parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, made five selections at day two (rounds two through seven) at the 2012 NHL Draft, held at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Kings selected forward Nikolay Prokhorkin in the fourth round (121st overall). Prokhorkin, who will turn 19 on September 17, spent the last two seasons playing for CSKA Moscow of the KHL. He also played for CSKA Moscow in the Russian junior league the last two years. In 2011-12 for the KHL club he had two points (1-12) and four penalty minutes in 15 games. For the junior club he had 26 points (9-1726) and 47 penalty minutes in 15 games. The 6-foot-2, 191-pound native of Chelyabinsk, Russia was ranked ninth among all European skaters in the 2012 NHL Draft.
With the 151st overall pick (fifth round) the Kings selected defenseman Colin Miller. Miller, who will turn 20 on October 29, spent the last two seasons with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. In 2011-12 he had 28 points (8-2028), 79 penalty minutes and a plus-9 rating in 54 games. His 28 points ranked second among Sault Ste. Marie defensemen. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario participated in the Kings Development Camp and Rookie Camp last year on a tryout.
The Kings had two picks in the sixth round. With the 171st pick the Kings selected forward Tomas Hyka. Hyka, who turned 19 on March 23, played the 2011-12 season with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, recording 66 points (20-4466) and a plus-14 rating in 50 games. He led Gatineau in goals, assists, points and plus-minus. The 5-11, 160-pound native of Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic played for his native country at the 2012 World Jr. Championships (two assists in five games).
With the 181st pick in the sixth round the Kings selected defenseman Paul Ladue. Ladue, who will turn 20 on September 6, played the 2011-12 season with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL, recording 34 points (9-2534), 27 penalty minutes and a plus-36 rating in 56 games. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound native of Bemidji, Minnessota led all USHL defensemen in plus-minus (second overall), while ranking tied for sixth among league defensemen in points.
The Kings final selection was Nick Ebert, as the 211th pick (seventh round). Ebert, who turned 18 on May 11, spent the last two seasons with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. In 2011-12 Ebert recorded 39 points (6-3339) and 58 penalty minutes in 66 games. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound native of Red Bank, New Jersey led Windsor defensemen in assists and points.

The Kings traded the 183rd selection (seventh round) to the Dallas Stars for their seventh-round selection in 2013.
