Kings Ink Brown And Gleason

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have re-signed restricted free agents forward Dustin Brown and defenseman Tim Gleason to two-year contracts, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Brown, 21, played in his first full NHL season this past year, and reached career highs in games played (79), points (28), assists (14), goals (14) and penalty minutes (80). He also had six power-play goals and two game-winning goals.

The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Ithaca, New York, was originally selected by the Kings in the first-round (13th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 110 career regular season NHL games, all with the Kings, Brown has 33 points (15-18=33) and 96 penalty minutes.

Gleason, 23, recorded career highs for goals (two), assists (19), points (21) and games played (78) with the Kings this past season. In addition, the 6-foot, 217-pound native of Clawson, Michigan, recorded 77 penalty minutes and finished second on the club in hits (141) and third on the club in blocked shots (117) while averaging 17:41 ice time/game.

Originally selected by Ottawa in the first-round (23rd overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Gleason was acquired by the Kings from Ottawa for Bryan Smolinski on March 11, 2003. Gleason has 28 points (2-26=28) and 98 penalty minutes in 125 career regular season NHL games - all with the Kings.

The Monarchs open their sixth AHL season at home against the Worcester Sharks on Saturday, October 7 at 7:35 p.m. Individual tickets for the Monarchs 2006-07 season go on sale Thursday, September 21.
