Kalamazoo Kings News Release
The Kalamazoo Kings had the offensive power to bring home their first road victory of the season on Tuesday night. But for the third straight game, the Kings gave up a late inning lead as the Rockford Riverhawks came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the 3rd, the Kings tied the game at 1 run apiece after second baseman Tino Burgos scored on center fielder Darryl's Blaze's single to left center field. The offensive attack continued in the top of the 4th as shortstop Kevin Wilson hit his first triple of the season and then scored on a sacrafice fly off the bat of third baseman Delvin Haskell. The Kings added two more runs in the top of the 5th inning. Left fielder Chris Carter hit his fifth triple of the season to drive in right fielder Brian Ferreira and then scored on a single by first baseman Mat Kent.
Starter Jason Biddlestone pitched 6 1/3 solid innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 4 before giving way to the Kings bullpen. The bullpen could not hang on to the lead for the Kings as Rockford scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the score at 4 runs apiece. They added the go ahead run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Jared Powell picked up the loss, his second of the season and Scott Sobkowiak picked up his second win for Rockford. The Kings will try to get their first road win of the season and split the series with Rockford tonight at Marinelli Field. The game begins at 7:05 p.m. central time (8:05 p.m. eastern) You can tune into the game on the Sports Station, AM 1660 WQSN, or listen live on the Internet at www.wqsn.com.
