Kings Agree to Terms with Seven Players

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with forward Trevor Lewis in addition to one-year contracts with forwards Marc-Andre Cliche, Richard Clune and David Meckler, defensemen Andrew Campbell and Patrick Mullen, and goaltender Jeff Zatkoff, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Lewis, 24, registered 13 points (3-1013) and six penalty minutes in 72 regular season games in 2010-11, his first full season in the NHL. Two of his Lewis' three goals proved to be game-winners and the 6-1, 195-pound native of Salt Lake City, Utah also finished tied for 10th among rookies with 102 hits. Lewis appeared in all six Kings postseason games this past season, tying for second on the club with three assists while totaling four points (1-34) and two penalty minutes in the six contests.
Lewis, who made his NHL debut at Buffalo on December 19, 2008 and scored his first NHL goal at Detroit on December 20, 2008, was originally selected by the Kings in the first-round (17th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. In 182 games with the Monarchs, Lewis recorded 41 goals and 51 assists for 92 points (41-5192) between 2006 and 2010.
Lewis has collected 16 points (4-1216) and six penalty minutes in 83 career regular season games - all with the Kings. His six postseason games this past season were the first of his NHL career.
Cliche, 24, recorded 35 points (14-2135) and 35 penalty minutes in 63 games last season for the Monarchs, where he served as the club's team captain. The 6-0, 200-pound native of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec has played the last four seasons in Manchester, accumulating 90 points (41-4990) and 124 penalty minutes in 212 games. Last season he served as the club's alternate captain. Cliche has appeared in one NHL game (with the Kings March 2, 2010 at Dallas). He was acquired by the Kings from the New York Rangers with Jason Ward and Jan Marek and a third-round selection in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft (later traded to Buffalo) for Sean Avery and John Seymour on Feb. 5, 2007. He was originally selected by the Rangers in the second round (56th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Internationally, Cliche earned a gold medal while playing for Team Canada at the 2007 World Junior Championships.
Clune, 24, recorded 22 points (8-1422) and 222 penalty minutes in 66 regular season games last season for the Monarchs. His 222 penalty minutes were tops on Manchester and 10th most in the AHL. Clune, who was the only player in the AHL to have 20-plus points and 200-plus penalty minutes, also appeared in all seven playoff games for Manchester, recording three points (all assists) and six penalty minutes. The 5-10, 199-pound native of Toronto has played in the AHL since 2006-07 for Manchester and the Iowa Stars, accumulating 53 points (18-3553) and 574 penalty minutes in 184 games. Clune has appeared in 14 NHL games (with the Kings in 2009-10), recording two points (both assists) and 26 penalty minutes. He was acquired by the Kings from the Dallas Stars for Lauri Tukonen on July 21, 2008. Clune was originally selected by Dallas in the third round (71st overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Meckler, 24, recorded 33 points (16-1731) and 28 penalty minutes in 75 regular season games last season for the Monarchs. He also appeared in all seven playoff games for Manchester, recording two points (2-02) and zero penalty minutes while attempting 20 shots (tied for second on the team). The 5-11, 204-pound native of Highland Park, Illinois has played the last four seasons in Manchester, accumulating 118 points (64-54118) and 102 penalty minutes in 298 games. Meckler was originally selected by the Kings in the fifth round (134th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Campbell, 23, recorded 12 points (1-1112), a plus-12 rating (third among club defensemen) and 68 penalty minutes in 76 regular season games last season for the Monarchs. He also appeared in all seven playoff games for Manchester, recording zero points and zero penalty minutes. The 6-4, 207-pound native of Caledonia, Ontario has played the last three seasons in Manchester, accumulating 31 points (6-2531) and 208 penalty minutes in 222 games. Campbell was originally selected by the Kings in third round (74th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Mullen, 25, recorded 20 points (3-1720) and 32 penalty minutes in 67 regular season games last season for the Monarchs. He also appeared in all seven playoff games for Manchester, recording one point (0-11) and four penalty minutes. The 5-11, 180-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has played the last two seasons in Manchester, accumulating 30 points (7-2330) and 48 penalty minutes in 111 games. Mullen was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 3, 2009 after four years at Denver University.
Zatkoff, 24, finished with a record of 20-17-5, three shutouts, a goals-against-average of 2.68 and a save-percentage of .911 in a team-leading 45 regular season appearances last season with the Monarchs. He also appeared in five playoff games for Manchester, posting a 1-3 record while leading the Monarchs in minutes played and saves. The 6-1, 170-pound native of Detroit, Michigan has played two full seasons in Manchester where he has a record of 31-28-5 with five shutouts. Internationally, Zatkoff earned a bronze medal for Team USA at the 2007 World Junior Championships. He was originally selected by the Kings in the third round (74th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
