
Kings Agree To A One-Year Contract With Clarke

MANCHESTER, NH â The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, on Monday agreed to terms on a one-year contract with left wing Noah Clarke. The club also agreed to terms on a three-year contract with center Matt Ryan. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not announced. Clarke, 25, appeared in 71 games for the Monarchs, recording 51 points (25-26=51) and 24 penalty minutes. Clarke, who finished second among AHL rookie goal-scorers and third among AHL rookie scorers, was named to the AHL All-Rookie team.
The 5-foot-10, 193-pounder also appeared in two games for the Kings last season, recording an assist (0-1=1) and zero penalty minutes. A native of LaVerne, California, Clarke became the first California native to appear in a game for the Kings in club history when he made his NHL debut on December 16, 2003.
During the post-season with the Monarchs, he appeared in six games and recorded four points (3-1=4) with four penalty minutes. His three goals co-led the club. Clarke was originally selected by the Kings in the ninth-round (250th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Ryan, 20, appeared in 68 games for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) last season recording 77 points (42-35=77) and 63 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 185-pound native of Sharon, Ontario, finished second on the club with 42 goals and third in scoring with 77 points. His 10 power play goals ranked second on the team.
During the post-season with the Storm, Ryan appeared in 22 games registering 19 points (8-11=19) and 24 penalty minutes as he helped Guelph win the OHL Championship and advance to the Canadian Hockey League's Memorial Cup. Ryan appeared in three games with the Storm at the Memorial Cup recording an assist (0-1=1) and four penalty minutes.
Ryan, who was a free agent, recently took part in the Kings summer development camp in Los Angeles.
