Bears to host 2nd Annual Hershey Bears Golf Classic on Monday, October 11

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS are pleased to announce the first annual HERSHEY BEARS Golf Classic, to be held on Monday, October 11th, 2004 at Parkview Golf Course in Hershey. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Shalom House, a shelter for homeless families in Harrisburg.

Scheduled to be in attendance for the tournament include Bears head coach Paul Fixter, assistant coach Paul Jerrard, and many of the 2004-05 HERSHEY BEARS. Fans will have the opportunity to play with a different HERSHEY BEARS player or coach on every hole throughout the scramble format of the tournament.

The tournament is open to the public, with an entry fee of $100 per person, or $400 per foursome. The entry fee includes greens fees, cart, dinner, prizes, and much more. The day will start at noon with registration and refreshments followed by a shotgun start at 1p.m. All participants will be able to play each hole off the tee with a different member of this year's HERSHEY BEARS team. Following the tournament, there will be prizes for the winners, and a full chicken and ribs dinner sponsored by Parkview Golf Course. For the non-golfers, tickets for the dinner and silent auction are available for $20.

Shalom House, an independent not-for-profit organization has been offering emergency shelter and services to homeless women and children in the Greater Harrisburg area for more than 17 years. A primary aspect of the Shalom House Mission is to provide these important services to the community, while teaching independence and self-sufficiency in the hope of breaking the cycle of homelessness.
