Richmond Kickers News Release

RICHMOND, VA - (Friday, May 23, 2014) - The Richmond Kickers, together with HCA Virginia, are pleased to celebrate the career of one of the all-time greatest professional players in Richmond, Ronnie Pascale, on Saturday, June 7 when the Kickers host the Harrisburg City Islanders. Pascale will be honored during a special halftime presentation and the first 500 fans through the gate will receive a limited-edition Pascale #22 replica t-shirt, courtesy of HCA Virginia. Avoid lines at the gate and order tickets in advance at RichmondKickers.com to guarantee a Pascale #22 replica t-shirt.

"Ronnie is one of the Kickers all-time greats," commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. "Saturday, June 7 will be a fun night to celebrate his memorable saves, game winning performances and his accomplished 13 years with the club."

"I am truly honored and humbled to have been a part of this great organization and to have been able to play in front of these amazing fans for as long as I did," said Pascale. "My career lasted longer than I ever could have imagined, and we accomplished so much more than I ever thought possible. The Richmond Kickers are the model of stability and development, and I am grateful to have been able to play a small role in that."

"I again would like to thank the fans for all the support you give the team and the club," he added. "As I watch most games from a very different view these days, it is great to sit back and see the enthusiasm and passion that the fans bring to each and every game, and I know the players all appreciate it and thrive from it, as I did for so long. I wouldn't trade my 13 years with the Kickers for anything, and I truly appreciate having one more opportunity to get down on the field and create one more memory I'll never forget."

Making more appearances than any other Kickers player in club history, Pascale reached the 300 games played milestone on July 27, 2012 against the Charlotte Eagles and logged over 27,000 minutes in a Kickers uniform. Since becoming the club's starting goalkeeper in 2002, the franchise player has led the team to six Championship appearances and two league titles. He concluded his professional career in 2012, playing every minute of every game in during his final season, adding eight clean sheets, for a total of 98 career shutouts.

Consistently one of the top netminders in the league, the three-time USL Goalkeeper of the Year backstopped the team to historic USL PRO and U.S. Open Cup Semifinals in 2011, ending that campaign with a miniscule 0.960 goals against average in 30 games played. Shoring up one of the best defensive units in the league, the experienced goalkeeper led the back line to a career-best 11 shutouts in 2011, while allowing just 29 goals on the season. Pascale posted his career-best goals against average (0.740) in 2007, en route to his third consecutive USL title match.

Prior to signing with the Kickers, Pascale spent his rookie season with the Atlanta Silverbacks out of Furman University where he was named Southern Conference Rookie of the Year in 1995. A four-year starter at Furman University, he was named to the Southern All-Conference team four times, Conference Goalkeeper of the year three times, and was twice named to the Second Team All-South. After his senior season, Pascale was named the Furman Male Athlete of the Year (1998/99).

Currently, Pascale is the Eastern Regional Vice President at Brock International, the leader in performance base systems for synthetic turf. His involvement within the Kickers' organization is ever-present as he continues to act as a youth soccer coach with the Kickers. Pascale resides in Moseley, VA with his wife, Stacy, daughter Tabatha (13) and son Brayden (7).
