
Keys to honor Thurmont Little League Wednesday

Frederick, MD - The Frederick Keys, class Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and parent company Comcast-Spectacor will honor Thurmont Little League, winners of the Maryland State Little League tournament, on Wednesday in a pre-game ceremony before the Keys regularly scheduled 7:05 p.m. game against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
Thurmont Little League won their first Little League State title and became the first team from Frederick County to win the state tournament and qualify for the Little League regional in the past ten years.
"We are proud of what the little leaguers from Thurmont have accomplished and are looking forward to bringing them to the ballpark on Wednesday," Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis said.
The Thurmont Little Leaguers, coached by John Tomasini and comprised of eleven 11-12 year olds, will travel to Bristol, Connecticut from August 5 - 15 to take on other teams from the Mid-Atlantic region to play for a chance to advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Thurmont will play their first game against Canal Little League from Newark, Delaware. The top 2 of 5 teams will play in the Little League Regional Championship game on ESPN 2 on August 15th.
During Wednesday night's game the Thurmont Little Leaguers will be recognized pre-game and stand with the Keys' players during the National Anthem. During the game the little leaguers will be in the stands raising money to help cover the cost of their trip to the Little League Regional Tournament in Connecticut.
