July 3, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

After dropping the first game of their current six-game road trip, the Keys defeated the Kinston Indians on Sunday afternoon for their fourth straight victory. 1B Tyler Townsend and LF Kipp Schutz each homered in the Keys 4-1 win. LHP Nathan Moreau improved to 8-6 on the season after he allowed one run on three hits over five innings.

The Keys were quick to strike on Sunday afternoon. Facing RHP Clayton Cook, RF Steve Bumbry led off the game with a walk. With 2B Bobby Stevens at the plate, Bumbry swiped second and third base. Bumbry remained at third when Tyler Townsend stepped to the plate with two outs. Townsend took Cook deep to center field for a two-run shot. Townsend's 11th home run of the season gave Frederick a two-run advantage before Nathan Moreau even stepped on the hill.

Due to forearm tightness, Clayton Cook was removed from the game after the first inning.

Knuckleballer Steven Wright entered the game for Cook in the top of the second. 3B Dale Mollenhauer led off the inning with a single and C Adam Donachie followed with another single. On the Donachie single, Mollenhauer went from first to third. With men on the corners, DH Jacob Julius grounded into a double play but Mollenhauer scored on the play to put the Keys in front by three runs.

Frederick plated their final run of the afternoon in the fourth inning. LF Kipp Schutz blasted the first pitch from Wright to right-center for his second home run as a Frederick Keys.

The four-run lead was plenty for the Keys pitching staff. Moreau struggled with his at times on Sunday but allowed just one run over his five innings of work. On the afternoon, Moreau matched a season-high with four walks but struck out three and allowed just three hits.

LHP Will Startup entered for Moreau in the sixth and tossed two perfect innings of relief. RHP Ryan O'Shea followed and threw a scoreless eighth inning. RHP Sean Gleason closed out the Keys win with his 23rd save of the season.

Moreau notched his eighth win of the season on Sunday and tied Bobby Bundy and Myrtle Beach's Robbie Ross for the league-lead in wins.

The Keys will try to complete the three-game sweep of the K-Tribe on July 4th. RHP Ryohei Tanaka (5-1, 3.25) will get the start for Frederick while Kinston will turn to RHP Marty Popham (1-0, 3.12). First pitch from Historic Grainger Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
