Kinston Indians News Release
Frederick's Chorye (Cory) Spoone pitched the Keys to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Kinston Indians on Monday night. Spoone (9-9, 3.35) pitched seven innings, giving up just two hits while striking out ten. The lack of run production from Kinston ruined a great night from Indians starter Sung-Wei Tseng. Tseng (6-9) took the loss, giving up just one hit through five innings.
Frederick got the only run they needed in the second inning when Jake Duncan led off with a single. Duncan stole second base then advanced to third on a fly ball by Mark Fleisher. Pete Maestrales then drove home Duncan with a sacrifice fly to center field. The Duncan single was the only hit Tseng gave up all night. Frederick would get some insurance in the top of the sixth when Fleisher hit a two RBI single off of Kinston reliever Ryan Edell. Kinston's Chris Niesel pitched two scoreless innings from the bullpen, giving up just one hit. Jason Burch picked up the save for Frederick.
Kinston hits the road for the final seven games of the regular season, still owning a two game lead over Salem after an Avalanche loss. Kinston starts the road trip tomorrow in Winston-Salem for the first of a four game set. The K-Tribe will send Erik Stiller to the mound for the 7pm start.
