DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth welcomed back two key players Thursday, re-signing explosive forward Brian Langtry and defensive stalwart Pat Coyle.

Langtry, the 2003 National Lacrosse League rookie of the year, has been a vital component of the Mammoth offense during his three seasons in Colorado. He is among the team's all-time leaders with 139 points on 68 goals and 71 assists in 41 regular-season games. He also is the team's leading playoff scorer with 12 goals in four games.

"Brian is a talented and passionate player who has routinely stepped up in big situations for this team," Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said.

Langtry, 29, is a native of Massapequa, N.Y., and stayed on Long Island for college, where he starred at Hofstra University. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound sharpshooter now lives in Parker, Colo., with his wife, Missy, and is a teacher in the Cherry Creek school district.

Coyle, a veteran of nine NLL seasons and four championship teams with the Toronto Rock, is among the league's top defenders each year and routinely draws the assignment of covering the opposition's top forwards. He was named the league's best defenseman and first-team All-Pro in 2002.

In 2005, his first season in Colorado, he recorded career highs in assists (15) and points (17) and made his fourth NLL All-Star Game appearance.

"Pat is a champion and a leader and he brings great experience to our team," Govett said. "He's consistent, he's tough and he's simply one of the best defenders ever to play in this league."

Coyle, 36, is a 6-foot, 210-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario. He has twice led the NLL in penalty minutes (1998 and 2001) and his 351 career penalty minutes rank second in league history. He played both collegiate hockey and lacrosse at the Rochester Institute of Technology and lives in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
