Kettles Returns to IceGators

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana IceGators Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Todd Gordon today announced the team has been assigned goaltender Kyle Kettles from the Houston Aeros.

Kyle Kettles spent all of the 2003-04 season with the Houston Aeros, registering a record of 4-9-5, with a goals against average of 2.80 and a save percentage of 89.4%. Kettles spent the enitre 2002-03 campaign as a member of ther Louisiana IceGators playing in 41 games. For the year Kettles numbers were an impressive 21-12-7, GAA 2.61, SP 91.9%. Kettles was a work horse for the Gators during his rookie season, at one point playing in 14 games in a row and starting 26 of 28 games down the stretch. The highlight of the year came in the first round of the playoffs, as the young man from La Duc Bonnet, Manitoba led the Gators to a first round sweep of the Arkansas Riverblades allowing only 2 goals in the three game series.

"Kyle Kettles is a top notch goaltender in this league," said Gordon. "He has proven he can carry the load of being a #1 netminder and his experience in the AHL shows he is capable of great things between the pipes."

Kettles is listed at 6'3", 190 lbs and was a 7th round draft pick of the Nashville Predators in 1999, the 205th player taken overall. The 23 year old netminder is expected to join the IceGators in time for practice this Monday morning at the Hockeyplex.
