Kerr Named to USL Team of the Week

August 2, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Kevin Kerr was named to the USL Team of the Week for a second time this season after a strong showing in Wilmington this past weekend. The Hounds captain tallied his second goal in three matches, kickstarting the club's attack to a season-high four goals in the 4-1 victory.

Kerr's second goal of the year came in the waning minutes of the second half after Pittsburgh saw a Corey Hertzog penalty conversion first waived off for encroachment, then saved on the subsequent attempt by goalkeeper Eric Ati in the 38th minute. Minutes later, the Hammerheads backline, down both starting center backs due to suspension, ceded a brutal turnover in their end to give Kerr free run into the box. Kerr would waste no time, powering a volley far-post from just outside the 18 to give the Hounds the lead.

With the tally, the Hounds midfielder has now scored 17 goals since joining the club in 2013 - a total of 90 career appearances. He is also only the second Hounds player since last year to earn the weekly league honor two or more times in a single season, joining Rob Vincent, who received the nod on seven separate occasions in 2015.
