FC Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - FC Montreal will continue its series of four home games in 12 days when it faces FC Cincinnati this Wednesday at 2pm at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.

The Bleu-blanc-noir lost the first game of this series by a 1-0 score last Saturday against the Charlotte Independence in what was a good quality game for Montreal.

"In terms of results, starting with a loss is not the best thing, but the content was really satisfying," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "If that's the basis of our performances in this stretch, it's a good one. What is missing is for us to score goals, which is the hardest thing to do in soccer."

The first meeting between the two teams, earlier this season, ended in a 2-1 loss for FC Montreal in front of more than 14,000 fans in Cincinnati. Mastanabal Kacher scored the visitors' only goal.

"Playing every three days will be tough, but the guys are ready, especially for Wednesday's game," said defender Nevello Yoseke. "It's really important for us. We lost 2-1 there; we want to win the game here. Cincinnati is a really well-organized team, good tactically and technically. It will be a good game."

FC Cincinnati played its last three games at home. Its last away game was on July 9, when the Ohio team won 2-1 against Saint Louis FC. The team is third in the Eastern Conference with an 11-4-5 record. Its biggest offensive threat comes from Sean Okoli, who ranks fifth in the USL scoring charts with nine goals this season.

"It will be a really interesting game against a team which we feel is the best in the league," added Eullaffroy. "We almost played an even game there and worried them until the end. If we can do it over there, I don't see why we couldn't do it at home. Okoli is a strong player. Against him, we need to win the physical challenge first and be more aggressive. Then, we have to be more careful on the cover."

The game time was moved to 2pm due to the game between the Montreal Impact and AS Roma on the same day at 7:30pm at Stade Saputo.

The fans will enter the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex on the Southwest side of the field, starting at 1pm. The cost is $5, with $1 going to the Montreal Impact Foundation. Admission is free for season ticket holders on presentation of their membership card.

FC Montreal will play its next game on Saturday, August 6, at 3pm against the Richmond Kickers at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.
