
Kernels win two MWL Executive Awards

The Midwest League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced its 2008 Executive Award Winners and for the second consecutive year, the Cedar Rapids Kernels garnered two of the four awards.
The Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year was awarded to Andrea Murphy, the Kernels Director of Tickets and Group Sales, as the individual who has made an outstanding contribution to her club, league or baseball during the past season. She shares the award with co-winner Stefani Brown of the Quad Cities River Bandits.
The John H. Johnson President's Trophy was awarded to the Kernels as the club who best exemplifies the standards of the complete baseball franchise, such as financial success of operation, contributions to the baseball community and baseball industry, and long-term franchise stability.
The Larry MacPhail Promotional Trophy was awarded to the Peoria Chiefs and the Midwest League Executive of the Year was awarded to Paul Barbeau of the Great Lakes Loons.
The award winners are all nominated for these same awards at the national level as the winners will be announced at the Baseball Winter Meetings, held in Las Vegas NV at the Las Vegas Hilton, December 8-11.
