The Kernels kick off the 2013 season and their new affiliation with the Minnesota Twins with a four game home stand. Here's a preview of what you can expect these first four games:
April 4-7 vs. Beloit
The Kernels open the 2013 MWL season by hosting the Beloit Snappers, the MWL affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, in a four game series.
It's Opening Night at Perfect Game Field on Thursday, April 4th when the Kernels take on Beloit at 6:35 pm. Get here when the gates open at 4:30 pm for Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday where 12 oz. regular draft beer and 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game. 2013 Magnet Schedules will be passed out at all four home games, thanks to Mercy Care Community Physicians. Watch Iowa take on Baylor in the NIT Championship game on the concourse TV's. Following the Kernels game with Beloit, the action switches to the LARGEST TV in Iowa as the game will be shown on the NEW 30' x 48' LED video board with the Thirsty Thursday special lasting until the end of the game. First pitch between the Kernels and Snappers is set for 6:35 pm.
You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Friday, April 5th as the first 500 fans through the gates receive a free Kernels cap, thanks to the Best Western Longbranch. It's our first 98.1 KHAK Friday Mug Club. Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug of soda or regular draft beer for $6 and get refills at the concession stand for just $3. Bring your mug back to every Friday home game for the same refill special all season long. The Kernels are set to take on Beloit at 6:35 pm.
Take advantage of some springtime afternoon baseball when the Kernels take on Beloit at 2:05 pm on Saturday, April 6th. The Kernels welcome special guests from Pierce Elementary to the game. Gates open at 1:00 pm.
The first home stand of the year wraps up on Sunday, April 7th when the Kernels take on Beloit at 2:05 pm. It's a 104.5 KDAT Sunday Run the Bases day. Get autographs from the Kernels on the field after the game, play catch in the outfield and run the bases. Enjoy face painting by Kennedy on the concourse during the game. Sunday afternoons means Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo this year being co-sponsored by The Radisson near Mall of America. The final winner this season will be given a trip that includes 2 nights of Hotel stays at the Radisson Waterpark near the Mall of America, a gas card, a $500 gift certificate to Mall of America and 4 tickets to a Twins Game. It's a True Family weekend in Minneapolis. Gates open at 1:00 pm.

104.5 KDAT Run the Bases Sunday: Every Sunday home game, play Travel Advisors Baseball Bingo, co-sponsored by the Radisson near Mall of America for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis and see a Twins game. And after the game, kids (and adults) can run the bases and play catch on the field and get autographs from the Kernels. Enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and face painting by Kennedy. World Class Juggler Doug Sayers will be here on select Sundays.
Dollar Monday: Regular hot dogs, small popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, chips and Cracker Jacks are each $1 on Monday home games.
Great Clips Twins Tuesday: Get an on-line coupon from the Kernels Facebook page or email newsletter for a 2 for 1 ticket offer at Tuesday home games as part of Twins Tuesday, presented by Great Clips. The Kernels will wear replica Twins jerseys and fans can register to win a pair of Twins tickets that will be given away each Tuesday home game.
Free Money Wednesday: Up to $1,000 will be given away at the main gates at every Wednesday home game with $100 as the top cash prize.
Z 102.9 Thirsty Thursday: 12 oz. regular draft beer, 20 oz. bottled soda and water are just $2.00 all game.
98.1 KHAK Kernels Friday Mug Club: Buy a 16 oz. souvenir mug filled with your favorite regular draft beer or soda for just $6.00 and get refills at the Kernels concessions stands for just $3.00. Bring the mug back to every Kernels Friday home game for those $3.00 refills.
Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
