Kentucky team changes name
March 13, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Kentucky Retros News Release
Murray, KY. "The newly formed 2007 expansion ABA team has changed its name to the Kentucky Retros," stated owner and GM Steve Van Waes. "The previous name, Kentucky Colonels, represents a long history of tradition and pride throughout the state of Kentucky. Our team recognizes this which is why we have decided to change our name."
"Our organization feels extremely blessed to bring the ABA back to Kentucky just with a different name and updated logo," stated head coach Kevin Waters. Kentucky is known for its long standing greatness in basketball and the Kentucky Retros are eager to showcase their exceptional team once the players are in place. A player tryout camp will be held at the end of March to take advantage of the statewide talent Kentucky and other states have to offer. For more information, contact Steve Van Waes at 270 293 2556 or email svanwaes@charter.net or call Kevin Waters at 404 729 6655 or email coachkwaters@yahoo.com or visit the new website which will be ready April 1st - www.kyretros.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
