Kent Predators Announce New Head Coach
January 12, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Seattle Timberwolves News Release
The Kent Predators are proud to announce that Keith Evans has been named Head Coach.
Evans is a former arena/indoor football player. Upon completing his game career, he turned to coaching and has longtime experience with multiple teams. In 2010 he served as Head Coach of the Wenatchee Venom and was instrumental in building the team. He was Assistant Coach for the Tri-Cities Fever of the af2, Head Coach for the Alaska Wild professional indoor team, and Head Coach of the Eugene Mercury professional indoor team. In 2002, Evans was Running Back and Special Teams Coach for the Puget Sound Jets helping them to an undefeated season. That year, the Jets beat the St. Petersburg Sharks to become the AFA National Champions.
Evans coached players such as University of Washington alumni and NFL player Brian Pittman. Pittman was on the Jets roster that same year they won the AFA National Championship. Pittman went on to have a five year career with the Houston Texans. Evans also had the pleasure of working with NFL player Maurice Bryant during his season with the Wenatchee Venom. Bryant had spent time with the Tennessee Titans and then went on to play for several arena football teams.
Before coaching, Evans was a wide receiver and running back with the Portland Prowlers and then the Yakima Shock Wave. He played college football at Spokane Falls Community College and was an All League Performer. He played high school ball for Ingraham High School, where he was an All State Performer.
"I have a great loyalty and dedication to football. In fact, a fierce dedication to sports runs in my family," says Evans. "My dad, Lee Evans, was dedicated to track and field. He won two gold medals at the 1968 Summer Olympics for the 400 meters and the 4x400m relay. I bring that same commitment and enthusiasm to the Kent Predators. I look forward to the Predators making a playoff run and being very competitive on the field"
