Kennedy Back With Oilers

July 2, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

With the nation poised to celebrate its birthday this weekend, the Tulsa Oilers will be bringing back a player with a presidential surname for the 2009-10 Central Hockey League season.

Defenseman Peter Kennedy (no relation to the country's 35th chief executive) has signed with the Oilers for the upcoming season. The 6-foot-2 195 pounder was limited to 28 games with the Oilers last year when a broken thumb shortened his season. He had one goal and seven assists and 28 penalty minutes. Kennedy says the off season rehabilitation has gone well.

"I'm looking forward to entering the season healthy and ready to go," he said. He also noted Oilers coach Bruce Ramsay's commitment to the blueline.

"He seems like he likes to build up the defense first and told me he likes to use six defensemen. As a d-man I like that. I saw that R.J. Linder is coming back and I think that's good. I enjoyed playing with him," Kennedy said.

The Oilers administrative offices will be closed on Friday July 3 in observance of Independence Day.

Season tickets for the Oilers 2009-10 season and their three year super saver plan in the BOK Center are available by calling the Oilers at (918) 632-PUCK (7825).
