Kelowna beats Kamloops

Adam Brown made 43 saves as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Kamloops Blazers 6-3 in Kamloops in the first half of a WHL double-header this weekend for the two teams.

The win clinches a playoff birth for the Rockets, who sit in sixth place in the WHL Western Conference.

The Rockets took a 4-0 lead into the third period in Kamloops before the Blazers scored twice to get back into the game. Brown faced 22 shots in the third as Kamloops outshot Kelowna 46-18.

A third period power play goal by Shane McColgan, his second of the game, restored a three goal lead and sealed the win for Kelowna.

Brett Bulmer had two goals and an assist while Madison Bowey and Cody Chikie also scored for Kelowna. Zach Franko chipped in with three assists for the Rockets while Myles Bell had two helpers.

The Rockets and Blazers meet back in Kelowna Saturday night in the second half of the home and home series.
