Wichita Wild News Release
The Indoor Football League (IFL) has announced that Wild defensive back and kick returner Randy Kelly has been named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 11. Kelly tied a franchise record by scoring three touchdowns in the Wild?s 61-42 victory over Odessa on Saturday.
Kelly single handedly took away any momentum or morale the Roughnecks may have had coming into the game. In the first quarter, Kelly returned a 52 kickoff for a touchdown, then following a few possessions, returned a missed Roughneck Field Goal 52 yards for another score. But the former University of Arkansas player wasn?t just a force on Special Teams. On the defensive side of the ball, he totaled 9 tackles and scored yet another touchdown when he picked off a Dennis Gile pass and returned it 30 yards for the score.
Other players recognized this week were Sean Treasure of Sioux Falls as Offensive Player of the Week and Atcheson Conway of Maryland as Defensive Player of the Week.
The Wild will return home to Hartman Arena on June 13 in a game vs. the Omaha Beef. The game could decide the Division Champion. Tickets for all home games are available at the Hartman Arena Box Office, by phone at 316-927-3999, stage1tickets.com and all Stage 1 Ticket Outlets.
